Pharmacy Services

Inpatient Pharmacy

• The hospital Inpatient Pharmacy provides pharmaceutical care to patients in Waitakere and North Shore Hospitals
• Clinical pharmacists visit the hospital wards providing medicines management and pharmaceutical care to patients
• All patients are encouraged to bring their medicines into hospital with them
• The pharmacy team and the medical/nursing staff work togther to identify and resolve any issues with medication
• Individual patients may receive a review of medication and counselling at a request of the medical team or the pharmacist

Outpatient Pharmacy

• The hospital Outpatient Pharmacies provide medicines management to patients who are provided with a discharge prescription when leaving hospital 
• Prescriptions can be filled and medications discussed by:
• Outpatient Clinic patients
• Emergency Department patients
• Community Mental Health clients
• anyone in the Community

Pharmacy services include

• dispensing of prescriptions
• providing access to medicines
• patient information and counselling
• blister packaging
• breast pump hire
• aseptic preparation of eye drops
• preparation of medications for syringe drivers
