Research and learning are core business at Waitematā DHB and contribute to the achievement of our DHB promise of 'best care for everyone'. Waitematā DHB collaborates with tertiary education institutions, other DHBs, NGOs, primary health care providers and industry partners to substantially strengthen and embed best-practice learning, research and the associated knowledge translation.
The term “research” in Waitematā DHB refers to a wide umbrella of activity that includes interventional and observational clinical research, clinical audit, innovation, service improvement and other related activity that occurs locally and/or in collaborations with research and innovation partners.
The Organisational Development Team develop and support capable people to achieve our Waitematā DHB priorities. Whenua Pupuke Waitematā Clinical Skills Centre, overlooking the lake at North Shore Hospital, and our Simulation Centre at Waitakere Hospital house many of the academic activities taking place across the DHB - developing employees to build confidence, improve performance, and practice their clinical skills.
