 Chaplaincy service Minimize

Our team of full-time professional chaplains and trained volunteer assistants support the health and wellbeing of patients, families/whanau, staff and visitors. Our chaplains are on call 24-hours a day and help in time of both celebration and distress. We support people of all faiths and spiritualities, as well as those with no particular beliefs.

We bring:

  • Compassion
  • A non-judgmental approach
  • Confidentiality
  • Patient focus
  • Respect for the dignity and worth of all
  • Bi-cultural and multi-cultural sensitivity
  • Advocacy with other health services, when needed
  • Listening skills
  • Spiritual counsel
  • Prayer
  • Sacraments/rituals.

We have two chapels that everyone is welcome to attend:

North Shore Hospital
Located on the ground floor (off the main corridor - next to MRI)
A worship service is held here every Sunday at 11.00am.

Waitakere Hospital
Located on the lower ground floor
A worship service is held here every Sunday at 9.30am.

To contact a chaplain please call (09) 486 8920 and ask to speak to the 'on call' chaplain.

The chaplaincy service is currently in need of more volunteer assistants. If you would like to be involved in what we do, we are running a training course for volunteers in 2010. For more information about the course please phone Raewyn on (09) 837-7538, or email Raewyn
