Monday start for new community laboratory testing services
Changes to Auckland’s community laboratory testing services have taken effect
Under the arrangement, 10 per cent of the existing Labtests’ contract transferred to Diagnostic Medlab on Monday 19 October. This covers laboratory testing services for private hospitals, private specialists, home visits requested by private specialists, fertility treatment and rest homes. All other community laboratory testing will be provided by Labtests. If your GP or midwife sends you for a blood test go to Labtests. Free vitamin D to slash number of rest-home falls
Falls by residents of Waitemata rest homes are expected to drop by 28 per cent because of a new, fully-funded scheme to make Vitamin D supplements free to all residents. The ACC-led scheme, launched in August and being run in partnership with Waitemata DHB, allows all Waitemata rest-home residents the opportunity to take free supplements of Vitamin D, if they want it and their GP is happy to prescribe it.
