The Health and Disability Advocacy Service, and the Health and Disability Commissioner, provide free independent support during the complaint process.

There are a number of organisations that aim to improve health in the Waitemata region by fostering community participation in health decision making, and assisting health care providers to work collaboratively with the community. Waitemata DHB provides cultural support to patients and their families to ensure the services received are responsive, accessible and culturally appropriate. The services also offer access to resources and interpreters for Waitemata DHB staff.

Waitemata DHB operates a strict smokefree policy in all buildings and grounds. If you would like assistance to stop smoking and you are an inpatient or outpatient of North Shore or Waitakere Hospitals, you can ask to be referred to our service.

 

 

 

A team of full-time professional chaplains and trained volunteer assistants support the health and wellbeing of patients, families/whanau, staff and visitors. The chaplains are on call 24-hours a day and help in times of both celebration and distress. They support people of all faiths and spiritualities, as well as those with no particular beliefs. To contact a chaplain please call (09) 486 8920 and ask to speak to the 'on call' chaplain.
