Dr Janice Chesters - Director Awhina Health Campus

Janice ChestersThe Awhina  Waitemata Health Campus at North Shore Hospital is a step closer, with the appointment of Director, Dr Janice Chesters.

Janice comes to us from Monash University in Victoria, Australia, where she was an Associate Professor.

Vastly experienced and widely published, Janice began her role at the DHB December 2010. Her goal is to shift individual units to a high performing team by early March 2011.

She says she thinks of it like an orchestra: members of the music team are individually talented and fully expert. They train and practice as individuals, as sub groups, and as a whole team. They must succeed at each level to remain part of the whole team. They will all be leaders and followers. They will have training to performance ratios and take advice from a number of coaches.

Dr Greg PringleGreg started his career as a horticultural researcher before turning his hand to a professional research management career. This has involved setting up a research office in New Zealand’s largest research-active polytechnic, before joining Waitemata DHB in late 2004 in a research support services role. Greg’s discipline expertise is in genetics and physiology.

Greg is active in the professional body for research managers, serving on the NZ Chapter Committee as well as the Professional Development Committee, and also organised their annual conference in Auckland in 2003.
